ABOUT THIS PIECE

Considered to be the earliest existing photo of the band this live live performance, at the Bel-Air Club, on March 10, 1962. Taken less than three months after their first live performance (Dec 23, 1961) and with Surfin' a radio hit this photo predates their signing with Capitol Records and the striped shirts they would become known for. As most of the band still attending Hawthorne High School live performance were rare and this photo features from left to right: Carl Wilson (15 years old) on the guitar, Dennis Wilson (17) on the drums, Mike Love (21) standing in front a microphone, David Marks (14) on guitar, and Brian Wilson (20) on guitar. Brother Records Archive.
