GONE ELECTRIC: Guitar Greats From Bob Dylan to B.B. King

Of all the nefarious forces that might've been come July 25, 1965, none proved quite so charged as that which took centerstage at Newport Folk Festival exactly 60 years ago today.
Plugging into history with a performance that would overturn the purportedly once-sacred values of acoustic artistry, the Stratocaster-wielding Bob Dylan went electric; though the music would would follow in high-voltage suit for the better part of a half-century onward, the progressive act must've been on lost on those in attendance who greeted the sonic breakthrough with boos and jeers. In a performance of seemingly unthinkable proportions, Dylan would not only challenge the perceptions of folk’s die-hard faithfuls but also re-chart the course of music history, capturing the very essence of rock & roll in the process.
In celebration, Morrison Hotel Gallery pays homage to Bob Dylan and six decades of electrified compatriots spanning the gamut from B.B. King and Bonnie Raitt to Joan Jett, Orville Peck, Eddie Van Halen and more with a web-exclusive tribute to 60+ electric guitar greats.
