On assignment for the Saturday Evening Post in 1953, Sid Avery photographed Marlon Brando at what Avery recalled was, [Brando's] little shack up in Beverly Glen. Brando's quintessential 1950s decor, replete with bongos and African art, was the perfect setting for one of Avery's best home layouts. He was a very rewarding photographic subject, Avery recalled, extremely relaxed, innovative, and thoroughly enjoyable. The title of the article that ran in the June 6, 1953 issue of the Post was, The Star Who Sneers at Hollywood.Photography by Sid AverySpecial edition of 10. Series produced by Arthouse 18.
