“I was there for the filming of the movie version of the rock opera Tommy, based on The Who’s 1969 album of the same name. The Pinball Wizard sequence, starring Elton complete with The Who has the backing band, was shot at the Kings Theatre in Southsea in 1974. I did hear that Elton only accepted the role on the condition that he could keep the boots.” -Terry O’Neill
