Jazz trumpeter and composer Miles Davis in August 1970 at the Tanglewood Music Festival in Lenox, Massachusetts. On August 18 that summer, Davis brought his electric band to Tanglewood, with Gary Bartz, Chick Corea, Keith Jarrett, Dave Holland, Jack DeJohnette and Airto Moreira, opening for Santana at the last of the Fillmore at Tanglewood concerts that Bill Graham produced over the summers of 1969 and 1970. The concert was the first known recording of Bartz with the group, and eleven days later the band played the Isle of Wight Festival.
David Gahr's profile of Davis from that performance became the most famous image of the musician and was used as the cover of his Jack Johnson album.
