At the end of every Heartbreakers tour that I was lucky enough to be included on, Tom gave everyone in the band and crew a gift.
For the 2013 tour, Tom suggested that the gift should be a print of one of my photos from the tour, and that he would sign it. I was honored. He asked me to put together a gallery of images to choose from, and after careful consideration, this image from the band’s headlining appearance at the Hangout Festival in Gulf Shores, AL in May 2013 was selected.
There’s an incredible energy exchange at the moment captured in this photo. The band stands together onstage, soaking in all the love from an adoring audience at the end of two hours of music. It’s awesome in every sense of the word, and I never tire of photographing it. I’ve shot it from many different angles, but I always come back to this one, with the artist in the foreground and the cheering audience behind them. I think it’s the best way to capture the entirety of the moment.
