After George Jones had finished recording his Bradley Barn Sessions, Jones called on close friends to come record a song together. It was February 24, 1994, toward the end of Jones’ long storied career of country music hits. Jones reached for a hymn book and landed on “The Great Judgement Morning.” With him were Connie Smith, Waylon Jennings, Jessi Colter, Marty Stuart, Ricky Skaggs, Travis Tritt and producer Brian Ahern. Tommy Spurlock and Scott Dorsey are also present in this panoramic photo made with an early WIDELUX camera. This recording of the song was released in 2013 on Jones’s gospel record titled, “Amazing Grace.”
