A peerless virtuoso on the fretless electric bass, Jaco Pastorius released his self-titled solo debut album through Epic Records in 1976. A groundbreaking jazz-fusion masterpiece, Jaco Pastorius showcased an eerily prodigious musician who combined breathtaking technical chops with exquisite arrangements and sophisticated compositions. In December 1975, Columbia Records staff photographer Don Hunstein shot this revelatory portrait for the album's cover, a stark and iconic black and white image which mirrors the wit and intelligence of the album's grooves.
