Although she'd been recording music since 1939 with the Carter Sisters and Mother Maybelle Carter, it wasn't until 1975 that June Carter Cash would release her first solo album, Appalachian Pride, recorded with her husband, the mythic Johnny Cash producing. Photographer Don Hunstein caught Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash working together in the studio in June 1975 sharing a moment of mirth and levity, the man-in-black relaxed in summer-worthy whites and Mrs. Cash laughing out-loud at a joke one can almost hear just off-camera.
