Peter Frampton at home with Rocky, NY, 1979
ABOUT THIS PIECE
“While still in my teens I did a shoot with Peter Frampton at his house in Westchester, New York. Two years prior I was sneaking my camera into shows and selling the photos for a buck a piece out of my high school locker and in front of concert venues. Now I was hired to do the promo photos for Peter’s new album, Where I Should Be. It was Peter’s first photo session since a near-fatal motorcycle accident. We took some very casual photos around his home, including some with his dog, Rocky, the inspiration behind his 1977 song “Rocky’s Hot Club.” He wound up using one of those shots for the press photo that the record label used to promote the album, with his name printed underneath my picture along with the record company logo. It was another first for me.” — Mark “WEISSGUY” Weiss
"It was a good day, and I was in a relaxed mood in my short shorts and my Hawaii ’79 T-shirt. I obviously wasn’t dressing for the occasion, but that was me, just laid back. Mark’s taken some timeless photographs, and he was lucky enough to be there in the ’70s and ’80s when things were really happening as far as rock ’n’ roll. It wasn’t so much of a business; it was more that we were inventing how to do it at that point. He was there right at the beginning of it, and I think he’s lasted this long because of his talent."" — Peter Frampton
