ABOUT THIS PIECE

B.B. King - The king of urban blues, B.B. King occasionally played the BottomLine in New York's West Village. My photo editor gave me this assignment: 'Make sure you get B.B. with Lucille.' Having never seen B.B., I wasn't sure who Lucille was. When 'she' still had not appeared halfway through the show, I asked a fan in the audience, 'When does Lucille usually come on?' He laughed and said, 'He's been holding her all night.' Lucille, of course, is B.B.'s signature electric guitar. -- Richard E. Aaron
