My friends in Richmond, Va. were doing a show and asked me to fly down to see them and maybe to possibly do some performance photos of them on stage. They were good friends so I flew down and got to the show to find out they were not the headliner but the opening band to Ray Charles. So since I was able to shoot my friends, I was also able to shoot the opening. I got back home and placed the photos in my file where they remained for twenty years when I got a call from my agent who said that Ray was on his death bed and they wanted to know if I had any images, and if so to scan all of them up. To think I almost did not go to shoot my friends in Richmond.-- Richard E. Aaron
