Ozzy Osbourne (bathtub) The Plaza Hotel, NYC, 1981
ABOUT THIS PIECE
“In April 1981 I was assigned to shoot Ozzy for a cover and feature for Circus magazine. He was doing press out of his hotel room at The Plaza Hotel in New York City promoting his first solo album, Blizzard of Ozz. Sharon greeted me as I walked in to the hotel room. She told me Ozzy was just finishing up a bath. She brought me in to him, where he was soaking in the tub filled with bubbles, for a quick introduction. As I was setting up for the cover shoot I saw a half-smoked cigar next to an empty bottle of champagne. I looked at Sharon with a smirk - she nodded to where Ozzy was taking a bath. I brought in the cigar and bottle and added more bubbles.” — Mark “WEISSGUY” Weiss
“Mark is like a member of our family. I remember meeting him, just starting out with a camera in the front of the stage on our first solo tour. We’d give him an all access pass. We’ve watched him grow up. He must have more photographs of me than any other photographer I’ve ever worked with. It’s interesting, because he was like a little kid when we first met him and we’ve had lots of memorable times. He’s always got that camera and he’s always going [whistles, like calling a dog] to get your attention, and I go, “Will you fucking stop doing that?” But it’s good. He’s one of the good guys. Mark just appears when you’re standing around, and you look, and it’s like, “Oh there you are!” If we’re doing anything and Mark wants to get in, we just let him in. All Access Pass: he’s part of the team.” – Ozzy Osbourne
