Stevie Nicks performing with Fleetwood Mac at a concert in Oakland, California, in April 1976, photographed by Ken Regan. That spring the band shared the bill with Peter Frampton and Gary Wright at Bill Graham's Day on the Green series at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, an outdoor stadium show billed as "The British Are Back to Back," with dates on April 25 and May 1. Regan catches Nicks mid-performance, tambourine in hand, in front of a vast daytime crowd.
Regan, a Bronx-born photojournalist who died in 2012, was trusted with rare access across rock music. He served as the official photographer for the Rolling Stones on several of their 1970s tours and as photojournalist on Bob Dylan's Rolling Thunder Revue in 1975, and his discretion made him a welcome presence backstage as well as in front of the stage.
