Keith Richards, Mick Jagger and Bob Dylan in New York City, 1972, photographed by Ken Regan as Dylan attended Mick Jagger's 29th birthday party. The night began at Madison Square Garden on July 26, where the final show of the Rolling Stones' 1972 American tour fell on Jagger's birthday, complete with balloons, confetti and a cake. Afterward Ahmet Ertegun hosted a party in Jagger's honor at the St. Regis New York, with a guest list that included Woody Allen, Andy Warhol and Zsa Zsa Gabor, and the Count Basie Orchestra providing the music.
Regan was a Bronx-born photojournalist who served as the official photographer for the Rolling Stones on several tours in the 1970s.
